Message in English:
It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Francesco. He passed away surrounded by his dearest loved ones after a difficult battle with cancer. He leaves behind his beloved wife Monica; his children Chiara, Matteo, and Francesca; his brother Marco and sister-in-law Crystal; his nieces and nephews Gina with her fiancé Kevin, and Andrew with his wife Caitlin; as well as his aunt Liana and his cousins Francesca and Marina. He is reunited today with his mother, Luciana Romani, and his father, Marcello Legaluppi, who preceded him beyond earthly life. Raised between Italy and the United States, he served Italy as the Italian Honorary Consul General in Baltimore for twenty-five years, supporting the Italian community in Maryland before returning to his first passion, the Boy Scouts of America. Active in politics and various philanthropic organizations, he was the founder of Italcultura from 1985 to 1999, the year in which Italcultura merged with the Circolo Culturale Italiano to create the Italian Cultural Center of Maryland (today The BIT Center) where he was President of the Board from 1999 to 2021. He leaves an irreplaceable void. His life will be celebrated in several services in the coming months. Details will be shared as soon as they are available. In lieu of flowers, to honor his memory, the family has established the Francesco L. Legaluppi Italian Fellowship Endowment Fund at The BIT Center.
