"Sam," as he was called by family and friends, lived a rich and active life. His passion and ultimately his career, was focused around food and the Italian table. True to his entrepreneurial spirit he ran Zannino's Superette or " the little store" as it was known to the neighborhood. He was a butcher and taught his sons the trade. As an excellent chef, he shared his love of cooking with his late wife Jeri and their six children. He enjoyed watching cooking shows and never lost his fascination with learning something new. He loved dining out with family, going to the race track with his late brother Larry and lifelong buddy Bo, and was an avid fisherman in his younger days, sharing this hobby with his grandson. He was good at almost everything he put his mind to including pool, bowling, gardening, and investing in the stock market. He even designed the space for the lower level in his house and demonstrated carpentry skills previously unknown to his family. He is an army veteran and served in the Korean war.
